The California Special was only made in 1968. Only a little over 4000 units were produced. Rare in the USA, very rare in Australia.
This is a daily driver with a 20+ year old paint job. The car does not look as nice as the photos simply due to 4km of dirt road to get to my house. The upholstery is in very good condition. The carpet was replaced when I did all the other work, but sadly I did a poor job of it. Looks OK, but a redo with another set of molded carpet (available at MustangsUnlimited.com for $220) wouldn’t go astray. Paint respray, a bit of interior touch up, and engine steam clean will get the car show ready. The photos also show the original auto transmission shifter which has been changed with the manual transmission conversion. Also, the sheepskin seat covers need replacing after the 18 years of service they have given me.
All power steering components come with the car but have been removed for better HP and road feel. The control valve could use a seal rebuild ($15 kit) due to leaking but otherwise everything was working just fine when removed.
